Love, actually

An emotion strong as 'love' has two one of the two effects on your life. It takes you to heaven, or drag you to hell. You grow older, stay lonely, love is becoming less of a romantic but practical matter. Like Lao Cui wrote "若是为了生命,爱情算个屁!"

Don't jump too early before confirming you are loving a lovable person. Stay cool even when it disappoints you. Don't let it drag you too deep, move on before it gets too painful... The list goes on and on. There should really be a "survivor guide of person in love", on the other hand, who would calmly follow those instructions if he's too deep in the hole. Nothing can be done on the side line, it is a sadly cruel world, and love actually, SUX!

Google satellite is finally out

Google satellite is finally out. You can see it in action here

Our home at google satellite, hehe. Google has accquired a company called "keyhole" a while ago for its satellite imaging technology. I have seen and tried "keyhole" software before but it is still nice to see it becomes generally available for free through google map. It is said that all images are at least 6 month old but from what I can tell, it is fairly recently since I saw a bunch of new houses close to my home that I know were built for no longer than 4 months old.

With "keyhole" pro edition, user can get even better resolution, don't know how good it gets but with even now, it is just simply amazing how fast technology grows and it can change our life.

Note: Google claims for privacy purposes it is never possible to see information such as human faces and car license plate etc.

Update: my life

Last week was a total mess! I lost my Linux server by a corrupted hard drive and my stupid moves having tried to fix it. I had to build it from scrach all over again, some of my stuffs that haven't been backed up timely were gone with the dead drive too. It took me a week to bring everything back to normal. Realizing how my life depending on it, I am seriously considering a more fool proof backup solution. Yeah, I am a dork.

Listened to Lao Cui's new album. He's changing his music once again, I admire his courage to let go of previous success, go against taste of crowd, and always try something new. Many new songs are more melody oriented like many of his old old songs, in the mean time, he's mixing elements including hiphop, electronic, Chinese traditional music and dialect. He's trying hard to do something new, sometimes putting too much stuffs in a piece, making it a chaos. To me it is good to listen to but not an album I expected after 7 long year waiting. I can't have the same kind of "butterfly on my stomach" feeling when I heard him the very first time anymore. Maybe I never will. Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's alleged suicide. No other band can touch me like Kurt did, not even in 11 long years. Independent new music had died when Nirvana got signed by a big label, now only the shallowness of the corperate music has left. Time is an all mighty killing machine eroding the last bit of my teen spirit away relentlessly. I don't know if I am really getting old now.

Meanwhile I am working on writing and recording a new song for a local DV project. Just finished first round recording tonight, but loads of polishing up left to do. Spring finally came despite a few rainy days every now and then. I am going to enjoy the beautiful California sunshine for the next 6 months alright. Stay tuned.
